i cant give you a definite answer but i don’t THINK there’s something wrong with you unless you have no compassion for other living creatures. if i were in your situation i think i would be the same way, i really enjoy animals but i do realize that in the end they are animals, i don’t feel bad for eating a chicken i wouldn’t feel bad for killing a dog for important research. i think its actually kinda nice that you will play with them a bit when you can before they are sacrificed, at least your not treating them like there objects. your fine would be my guess.

it could be your upbringing. Possibly you realize what you are doing is for a greater good. You didnt state anything about enjoying it or looking forward to ending their lives nor taking joy in it. If this is the case, then you likely need to seek help. Otherwise you are possibly a realist with a deeper understanding of what the end results of your tasks are.

You’re fine. We need somebody to do the not so nice stuff in our world, like executions and animals testing, you just happen to be one of those people. You’re actually pretty strong psychologically (just from what you’ve written, sounds like you can handle different situations)

i would be like that with humans….but i love animals. The death of humans to me is like the death of a deer for a hunter. I think thats fairly normal. Though i hate your line of a job

I probably could never do that just because I love dogs, but it doesn’t make you a bad person. It just means that you might not get as attatched to the dogs as other people would. I guess you’re the right person to be doing that job if you don’t have a problem sacrificing them.
