Are there any dog lovers using Revolution who are having negative results in flea control?
ByMy 13 week old pit bull pup and my 1 1/2 year old schnauzer started Revolution flea control last month. It seems that this product isn’t working up to snuff. Fleas are present and it is less than one month since the previous application. I would like to inquire of others whether or not the similiar problem has existed with them. Thank you for any information you can provide.

Use Frontline. It is weaker, but the reactions are less likely, and it does work. Many people have complained of seizures with some of the newer meds. I was just at the clinic and two people came in with reactions to flea products. I wouldn’t use the newer products on the market this year.

You will experience that problem when starting on any flea and tick control. The concept behind monthly flea and tick treatments is to break the lifecycle. While the first months application will gradually kill the fleas and most eggs the next month should result in less eggs to be hatched. Occasionally other fleas from outdoors will take your dog as a host but should die shortly afterwards. Give it until the third month and you should drastically see results. The good thing about Revolution is that you don’t need a seperate heartworm treatment. Plus, unlike Frontline and Advantage it has yet to have a single recall.

I use K9-Advantix, and we’ve experimented, and let the dogs go 45 days before applying it again, and we have no problem with fleas.

There is a huge problem with Revolution if not applied correctly. Is it not also a heartworm preventative? If so I would advise having your dog checked for heartworms (which are caused by fleas).
Several people have had their dogs turn up HW positive and were using Revolution. The manufacturer will pay for treatment IF you can show that it was purchased at the vet. We actually had a rescurer that was using it, given to her by a vet and 3 dogs turned up HW positive.
Treatment is no fun and dangerous.
