I have a male Australian Cattle dog who pees when he gets really excited or when something makes him nervous. Is this normal or is this something that needs to be brought up to a vet. I am asking because I don’t think it is because my sister-in-law has a chihuahua who does the same thing, but am not sure.

I just saw this pet rescue video on CNN wanted to share this
story with everyone.

Stitch the English Mastiff puppy who was attacked by his 9-month old mother who had a litter of 14 puppies killing 4 puppies and Stitch barely survived. Through a network of helping strangers Stitch was flown from MD to FL by a kind stranger. See story for full details. http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/06/03/dnt.fl.puppy.saved.wptv

Another story from Sanctuary Animal Refuge:

Thanks for all the feedback. I think 9 months is too young for a dog to have puppies, but then I think there are already way too many animals in the world. If we could only figure a way to give incentives for spay/neuter we might be able to change this problem.

I have a four-year-old Australian cattle dog (short coat). We knew what we were getting into when we adopted her, and we accept that she will always shed. I’ve heard the FURminator works amazingly well; I’ve heard it’s not worth the money. I’ve also heard that changing her diet (we now feed her Purina Dog Chow) can help and that bathing her with a deshedding shampoo works wonders. Does anybody have any suggestions, products that they can recommend through experience?

There big. There loving. They must eat a ton of food. Do they require a lot of land? Are they suseptible to medical problems? How are they around kids? Thanks!

Mastiff puppy question?

Posted by: admin | Comments (4)

So my english mastiff is now 5 months old the cutest big thing around. Question its good to see the last 2 ribs right and I do walk her every other day for about 1 hour or so. I just want to make sure that shes not being over walked. And I feed her good only dry food no wet. I just want her to live as much as she can with no health issues. Its really sad that they only live like 10 years. Does anyone else have a mastiff puppy like me if so how has it been 4 you (HONESTLY) And have you tried the petsmart training classes if so did they help. Also did you name your mastiff a name that doesnt match your dog? I did but I will tell later its funny

I recently got an English Mastiff puppy, his breeder said he was 7 weeks when I picked him up. However, when I got him home he did not seem to be as developed as a 7 week pup, so I took him to the vet. She had two litters, so I thought she gave me a younger puppy and lied about his real age. He has a lot of gray on him and was extremely weak when I first brought him home, and resembles a 5 week old pup instead. I took him to the vet, and the vet said he didnt have much experience with mastiffs, but he wasnt stocky enough to be a mastiff. He is a great puppy, and his parents have both their DNA in the AKC registar. I emailed his breeder again and she said he wans’t the runt, but because his l;itter had 10 puppies in it, he seems small. She assures me he’ll be over 200 pounds like his father, but the vet said he looks like he will only reach 80? I feel like that is a huge difference. Any suggestions? This is my first mastiff, so I’m kind of lost on the subject.
