Akbash dogs of Turkiye

Çiftlikte her şeyimi ortada, açıkta bırakıp gitsem, Akbaşlar sayesinde gözüm arkada kalmayacak, bunu biliyorum. Akbaşların içgüdülerine, zekalarına, cesaretlerine ve …

Canine Behavior Issues After Dog Bite / Sepsis
Posted by: | Comments
Canine Behavior Consultant, Renee Cawley, asks Cesar Millan to help with aggression issues she is experiencing with her own dogs after surviving a near fatal infection caused by a dog bite: When this was originally taped (March 2009), I was struggling with behavior issues with both Trinity (Australian Shepherd) and Clifford (Akbash Dog ) after I was hospitalized for a severe blood infection (sepsis) contracted after bacterium from a dog bite (capnocytaphagia canamorsis) almost took my life. I was taken to the ER 48 hours after being bitten on December 3, 2008, with severe flu-type symptoms. Since I do not have a spleen, my body was unable to fight the infection and I went into full arrest (cardiac, renal, liver) and was comatose for 3 days. Doctors originally gave me a 10% chance of surviving and planned on amputating both hands and feet due to loss of all circulation in my extremities during my systemic crash. Miraculously I only lost fingers on my right hand and suffered partial paralysis in my right foot. I am still suffering some severe internal health issues and have since moved in with my family while I continue my recovery. Unfortunately, my dogs have been adversly affected by my condition. Their lives have been disrupted as much as mine and I am most concerned about Clifford, who was only 8 months into his rescue and rehabilitation when the accident occured. I was forced to leave Cliff behind with my ex, and now, he is unable to devote the attention this very …

How big and small can a Akbash dogs p***s size be?
Posted by: | CommentsWhich one is actually an akbash?
Posted by: | CommentsI looked it up because I didn’t know much about the breed, and on Google images, half of the dogs look like this:

and half looked like this:

To me they lood like completely different breeds. The first looks a lot like a great pyrenees, and the second one looks like a white labrador with a long tail.
when I said long tail, I meant fluffy tail… I do believe labs are supposed to have rather long tails
thanks skipper! I feel so dumb for not knowing!
They are very pretty dogs. I think I would actually prefer the short haired. I could never own such a fluffy dog!
14 months old, neutered, Akbash… s**kling?
Posted by: | CommentsOkay, so as some people might remember, about a year ago we got a male dog from a business associate of my mother. We were told he was a Husky, they couldn’t keep him anymore, we had room either way, and we’d been looking at shelter dogs at the time as well.
We knew he wasn’t a Husky considering he was two months old and well over 40lbs, and looked nothing like a Husky. We looked around on the internet, and low and behold – he was most similar to an Akbash, so we stuck with it.
About three months into having him, we noticed what we thought was him chewing on pillows, blankets, clothes, etc.
It wasn’t chewing – it was s**kling-like behavior.
Now, we had already found out he was taken away from his mother too early. They’d had him for two weeks before we got him, meaning he was 6 weeks old when they received him – and we don’t know before that point.
Any educated dog person knows there can be reciprocations of such a thing.
But is s**kling such a reciprocation, or is there something else we should be looking into?
It’s not his diet, I know as much. They had him on Purina, we put him onto our regular food [Dad's], and I had saved up a few of my paychecks to buy a decent supply of Innova EVO. I switched him and my Siberian Husky to that, and they were both fed it for 6 or so months, but his s**kling persisted during that period so there is no chance it’s anything similar to pica [plus, he's not *eating* it].
So, *is* this s**kling something that’s a side-effect of his early release from his mother?
We’re not too bothered [obviously, it's been going on for a year] since the only side-effect is a nice amount of dog saliva on the corner of our couch pillow, and washing them much more frequently — but should we be more worried about it?
Thanks to all whom answer.
How to train An Anatolian Shepherd Dog?
Posted by: | CommentsAnatolian Shepherd Dogs have a long history of guarding flocks. Most Anatolian Shepherd Dogs used to protect livestock today trace their origins to Europe and Asia. Among the most popular are the Great Pyrenees, who once guarded against wolves and bears in France; the Turkish Akbash, Kangal, and Anatolian shepherd; the Hungarian Komondor and Kuvasz; the Italian Maremma; and the Tibetan mastiff.
