Could my cat be stressed out?
ByI just recently moved from Michigan to Ohio with my cat. She seemed to be doing fine, but recently she has started sneezing, with no discharge from nose or eyes. She also seems a bit lethargic, and doesn’t seem to be eating much. Her eyes are clear, and she still talks and loves her pettings. The only other different thing I have done, besides move, is put a collar on her. She has been itching at it like crazy, to the point where if I itch her neck, her foot goes crazy like a dog. Could she be allergic to something, sulking due to the collar, or should i take her to a vet to make sure she isn’t sick? She is my first cat, so I am not sure if they sulk, stress, or whatever other odd things they may do. Thanks so much for your help, opinions, and advice

If she’s never had a collar before, she will scratch at it like crazy. Eventually she’ll get used to it. If not try another brand.
Cats like familiar territory so I wouldn’t be surprised if she is stressed out because of the move. Do NOT let her outdoors for at least a month or she might try to run away. She needs to make sure she marks that house as hers so she returns to it.
The sneezing may be an increase of dust in the house, especially if things are being moved around. Maybe the atmosphere is drier?

It may be allergies. Remove the collor and see if that helps. If not it may be something in the new home like carpet or mold etc.

Don’t worry about the sneezing unless they she does it say every 10 mins or so
Er for the collar, try to loosen it as much as you can without making it escape-able from. if it continues, take her to the vet and get their opinion and advice.

This isn’t a flea collar you put on her, is it? If so, take it off. Flea collars are useless and can be toxic.
If it’s not a flea collar, it is time to find a vet in your area. It may be there is something in the house that is causing her problems. It may also be the change of climate and the pollens that go with that.
It could be stress, but to be on the safe side, take her for an exam.

Any time a pet acts like that it’s best to just take it to the vet to find out what’s going on. She could be stressed from the move, she could be sick, she could have allergies, the collar could be bothering here – there are many possibilities. Best idea whenever something is out of the ordinary with a pet is a vet trip.

I recommend taking the cat to the vet. It could be many different things and we’re not going to be able to diagnose your cat with accuracy.
Like another person said, if it’s a flea collar…that could be the cause. The chemicals have been known to kill cats and dogs. So, don’t use them. I recommend Revolution or Advantage for flea prevention.
If it’s a normal collar, it could be the material she’s allergic to. However, you can’t know for sure if it’s allergies without seeing a vet.
Please, don’t use collars. Many cats have strangled themselves in them before. Get your cat microchipped instead.
It could have nothing to do with the collar. Either way, lethargy, loss of apetite, and sneezing is a big sign to take your cat to the vet.

she may be allergic to something, but it also may just be a virus…the lethargy and sneezing with no discharge makes me think virus, take her to the vet and u will porbably get some antibiotic for her!
