Your dog dragging his butt on the carpet? He might have a problem.
My son has severe asthma. He has been to the hospital a couple of times in the last year. He is four. He was recently in the hospital and put in ICU. We think it was because we ripped up the carpet and whoever lived here before us had a cat. When we get around a cat, up to the hospital we go. It’s terrible. We have an appointment with the allergist/asthma Doctor at the beginning of November. We have a dog, that we have had for a little over a year. My question is this. Could my son be allergic, but not always have the symptoms? I know I will find out when we go to this appointment, so I don’t need to hear go to the Dr. I just want to know if this is possible.
Dog is a lab/retriever mix. Some people say they see red bone coon hound as well.

It can happen, my nephew has extremely severe asthma as well and has been on meds and in and out of hospitals all his life. Cats, dust, mold all those are pretty high up the list with my nephew but dogs have not yet been implicated.
They got rid of all the rugs in the house, all curtains are gone and they need to retest him every once in awhile to see if he’s developed anymore allergies. He’s on pills,as well as nebulizer treatments and of course his inhaler. It’s not easy on them but it has to be done, I wish you luck and hopefully all will be fine for your son. Good luck.

Your son could be allergic to any of a million things. The only real way of telling is for him to have the allergy tests done. Also just because he was allergic to cats it doesn’t always follow that he will be allergic to dogs.I hope all works out well for you.good luck C x

It is highly likely that he is allergic to pet dander. I would make sure he wasn’t around the dog much considering the severity of his asthma. Best of Luck to you

he may be only allergic to cat dander. if no reaction around the dog in a year than i would say he is ok with dogs.
talk to the doctor about your concerns and get him tested.

well it depends really if the dog malts then maybe but if it doesn’t malt then probably not. Also if ure son rubs himself against the dog then hairs might go up his nose or in his mouth.

I think he’s allergic to your dog. It’s quite common that symptoms don’t show up if people are allergic to something.

I don’t think its impossible. It could just be the hair of the dog/cat that is doing this to him. It could be affecting his asthma.

I think he is allergic. You need to see a specialist
