You need to be careful, especially since you have asthma as getting a dog could make your asthma much worse. There is not such thing as a non-allergenic dog, although single coated dogs are not as bad as double coated dogs. If you do decide to get a dog, make sure you can return him/her if you have problems. You'll need to wash your dog at least once/week to decrease the allergens that get on the fur.
Allergy shots can greatly decrease allergy and asthma symptoms.

my grandson has very bad asthma and my daughter got a toy poodle.this works great but he isn,t allergic to dogs so that works for him.this little dog loves to lick you.he is so cutr,he dances on two legs without being taught.but the licking may not agree with you.maybe talk to a vet because they know animals better

I have the same allergy to both cats and dogs. If their saliva gets on my skin I break out in red welts and they itch. If I wash with soap and water right after I pet them then I don't break out. I'm not sure about finding a breed that you wouldn't be allergic to since it's their saliva you're allergic to and not so much the fur/dander. It's difficult because I love animals and I want to be able to pet them and play with them but I can't without breaking out.
Maybe I'll just get some fish.
