The average weight for a full-grown GSD is 77-85 pounds, and the males are probably in the upper range of that. But since dogs can vary depending on breeding, to be sure any dog is at a healthy weight, see if the ribs can be slightly felt but not seen and the stomach goes in at the sides when viewing from above. Those are the easiest ways to determine if the dog is not under nor over-weight.

It can depend on the type of Shepherd you have if it is a conformation show Shepherd they tend to be 70-95lbs, if it is more the working type Shepherd they tend to 80 to as much as 120lbs.

It all depends on genetics. “by the book”, they should be approximately 75-95 pounds. There are plenty of idiots breeding them 120-140 pounds. Leave it to us in America to f#ck up a breed as much as possible.
