Stay away from this girl unless you want to have a bad reaction. It's your choice.

avoid your trigger. have the gf go to you. ask that she change her shirt before meeting you. this is not about her, but about your health. take a CPR class together, volunteer with the Am Lung Assoc and the gf, and remind her that asthma kills.

The only real thing that you can do is to take a daily allergy pill like zyrtec or Claritin. It sounds like the rest of the problem lies with your girl friend. It is nice that she wants to save dogs and cats and everything, but at the same time there is something to be said for being a responsible pet owner, and that includes making sure that the people who visit you dont have to go out of their way to deal with the pet hair, messes, barking and everything else that comes along with a pet. If she trukly cares about you she should be giving her animals baths at least every two weeks to keep the dander down, combing out their undercoats and vaccuming before you come over. The dogs can stay in another room when you are there or outside. I have lived with dogs my whole life and never met one that didnt prefer to be outside provided that it is not too cold out to do so. It sounds like she is a bit co dependent with her dogs. Some people just cant realize that just because a dog has been abused in the past doesnt mean that you need to spoil it in the future. Dogs want to obey their masters and if she sets limits and boundaries on them such as not barking and jumping etc they will respond in a healthy pet-owner relationship. I, for one, do not believe that just because a dog was rescued means that they can do whatever they want. Dogs who are raised that way often end up in humane societies to begin with because no one can deal with their bad behavior and manners. By treating her dogs the way she is she is not helping them, she is actually making things worse for them by adding to their behavior and encouraging it. And acting that way wont help her keep a great guy like you who is willing to put up with the things she lets her animals do.
