My 5 pound dog ate ate a short fishing line will bait and possibly a hook on it, I’m very worried.?
ByMy 5 pound dog might have ate a fish hook im very very worried, she doesn’t seem to be acting discomforted she’s acting normal but im still worried she also swallowed a small line with it what should i do?

Your dog may have swallowed a HOOK and you’re sitting on your butt on the computer asking strangers what to do?
Does going to the Vet not cross your mind?

If your dog has swallowed a hook, that can do alot of internal damage. Get her to a vet ASAP!

You should be very worried. I don’t usually push the “vet now” button automatically, but this one is a case for it. Thing with fishing line, and a hook….the hook can catch up on somthing inside and cause a perforation, be it esophagus, stomach, or intestines. Then, there’s the whole issue with the string. As the intestines expand and contract to send food on it’s merry way, that fishing line can cut the bejeebers out of the dog’s intestines. You really shouldn’t mess around, she needs to be seen promptly.

This is definitely a time to take your dog to the vet, NOW. Any chance of a fish hook being swallowed is not good. You dog will probably need an x-ray to confirm if she has swallowed one, then it will mean surgery to remove it. You do NOT want that hook to pierce her intestines. If it does she would very probably end up with peritonitis and that could kill her.
Take her to the vet, NOW!

Emergency vet. My (much bigger) dog swallowed a baited hook. The vet got it out while it was still in his throat. The throat liner is much tougher than the rest of his digestive tract;pulling it out now is safer and cheaper than surgery.

you should go to a vet and have the x-ray her tummy … they may have to surgically remove it because if it made it to the stomach with tearing up the esophagus it will def tear up the stomach or intestines … please take her to the vet now!!

HELLO! go to a vet if you want your dog to live. your dog may die too if you don’t. a fish hook causes a lot of damage. get there soon or it will be too late!!!
