My 8 Year Old Daughter Wants A Pet Dog. What Breed Is Best For Us?
ByWe live in a modest 2 storey 1 car garage townhouse and my 2nd grade daughter is begging for a puppy. I do not want to break her little heart but I must have a dog who will not make my Asthma flare up. Is there such a hypoallergenic pet? I like animals and so is my family. Hope someone can help us. Thanks.

Hi! I’m a 12 year old. I’ve had 12 dogs so believe me I know what I’m talking about. A miniature poodle sounds like a good match. But can I ask you a favor? PLEASE GO TO YOUR LOCAL RESCUE OR SHELTER AND ADOPT! Please I’m BEGGING you! There are so many poor animals who deserve a second chance. They have tons of puppies. Cute ones, too. It breaks my heart to see all the dogs there who just want love, because they have never experienced it. They are bound to have at least 2 rescues that are specifically dedicated to mini poodles or whatever breed you decide on. I’m sorry that I’m not totally answering your question, but please bear with me. You do not have to choose me as best answer, but I can relate to your daughter. I know what it’s like to want a puppy so bad. The breed isn’t most important. It’s the right personality. Find a dog that seems sweet around your daughter and obviously will love her. Please take adopting into consideration! If you have any question please email me at ferret.lover97@yahoo.com Thanks and I wish you best of luck! Tell your daughter I said hi and I hope she loves her new puppy when she gets one!

CHIHUAHUAS ARE AWESOME!!
my family has one and i have a little 6 year old sister and the dog is great with her.
they are such sweet dogs and our chihuahua has really short fur so she doesn’t shed much..but the are easy to take care of..our chi doesn’t even have to go out to the bathroom, she just goes on these little “pee-pee pads” which are SO EASY AND CONVENIENT because potty training and remembering to take a dog outside can be hard.
but here is a site with a list of breeds that are hypoallergenic:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypoallerge…
i have heard that yorkies are good dogs and they are on the list, but i would recommend a smaller sized dog..in my experience they are so much easier to take care of and for a small girl are more ideal and cuddly:)

Hi Wonderer! I’ve read all the answers given by fine individuals and what they’ve said are exceptional. I think they were all able to answer your question well and more. All I can add is that there is an animal shelter here in the Philippines that you and your daughter can visit. Good luck and hope I helped a little.

Everyone in my family has asthma so we have a hypoallergenic dog called a schnoodle. It is a mix between a poodle and a schnauzer. They a very smart, great with children and other animals!

The maltese is a small but good dog instead of fur they have hair, not to worry though they still look like any other dog.
