It is becuase of their nasal cavity being so short and their nose being so close to their face. It is a trait of the boston terrier were they will have a breathing fit and reverse sneezing. What my dog sounds like she is coughing or choking to death but she isnt. Dont worry your doggie is fine it is nothing to take him to the vet over and like the vet says he is fine. If you go back to the vet and say, "I think he is throwing up bile," then the vet might be more likely to investigate for other problems. My Maltese dog throws up bile every now and then (clear/yellow/sometimes foamy). He has had an ultrasound and a biopsy which showed he has a mild case of intrahepatic liver shunts. He doesn't need surgery or anything right now, but that could change in the future if they get worse. Anyways, just a thought.
