if your dog is aggressive that is because he is in pain and a good vet would see around that or AT my vets they would use a muzzle

sounds like he has a bad ear infection and i would be taking him to anothor vets where he can be muzzled and sedated and the vet can have a look
you would also have to use a muzzle to treat his ear

The vet came to your house? That’s different. My vet will come to my house when I have to have 9 dogs inoculated for the same thing.

Okay, back to your dog. The vet needs to get a sample of what is growing in your dog’s ear and you will need the correct treatment. You will also have to clean the ear. Expect all of this for about 2 weeks.

A rotten smell with a ear that is swollen? It MUST be treated. I don’t know what kind of dog you have but I suggest getting a very good muzzle and a prong collar. If the dog needs to be sedated in order for the vet to examine him, then do it.

ADD: At this point I have to agree with Bonnie L.

My dog had a similar problem, his ear was not swollen, but it was red, and when he shakes his head, i get that really rotten bad smell. He would not let me touch it. It took 2 of us. My BF fed him a couple treats and i grabbed his head, and squirt some hydrocortisone lotion in his ear, I got it from petco, its in the ear care section. the redness is now going away, and its doesnt smell as bad, and you just rub his ear till its in there, My vet used to do this with a dog I used to have that always had ear infections, maybe this will help your baby..:) Just try anything to try and distract him and do it quick. Always ask your vet first if you should do this. Mine has always said its perfectly fine, and its worked for all of our dogs.

Sure!! Right! A reputable vet would have put a muzzle on the dog. I doubt that you’ve seen a vet for this problem. You’re looking for a quick cure from people on YA’s.

There are a couple of things I would suggest. First, because he is in pain, and acting aggressive, getting him off of his home turf is a good idea. Take him to a vet clinic. House calls are great, but do have the disadvantage of making the dog view the vet as an intruder, and raise protective instincts. Going to a clinic changes that dynamic.

Second, if it is that painful, it would be wise to anesthetize the dog so that the vet can get a good look into that ear, check the eardrum, and also a good cleaning of the canal. Samples can be taken so that the appropriate medications can be prescribed.

Last, the vet can prescribe anti-inflammatory medications and the proper topical medications, because oral antibiotics will not be effective in outer ear infections. You might want to purchase a muzzle, so that you can treat the ear infection at home safely.

Good luck.
