Dog eats her food too quickly and makes herself sick?
Posted by: | CommentsThis is an ongoing problem with my dog… I give her food, she inhales it, and throws it up within the hour. She doesn’t throw up every meal but she does it enough that it’s an issue.
I’ve tried giving her small amounts of food throughout the day, forcing her to inhale only small portions… But I can’t really do that all the time, because I’m not home throughout the day to feed her several small meals.
How do you suggest that I get her to slow down? I hate that it makes her sick but in addition to just that, I’m also tired of cleaning up huge gobs of wet food.

Getting Puppy to eat dry food again…..?
Posted by: | CommentsMy 5 month old lab was sick for a few days. We took him to the vet on Mon because he hadnt eaten anything all day Sun. The vet said he had a virus, gave us some meds and suggested that we give him canned dog food and see if he will eat that. The vet figured that Gunner would think it is a treat and eat it a little more readily. He was right and Gunner has eaten the last 3 days. But now we are trying to get him to go back to his dry food and he wont eat it. If we mix it with the canned, he eats around the dry food. He has never had table food and I refuse to have a picky eater. How do we get him to eat his dry dog food again? Any suggestions?

Feeding a dog canned food after surgery, and how to introduce hard food again?
Posted by: | CommentsOur 7 year old mini schnauzer was acting sick the past week, so we took him into the vet and found out the problem was 3 massive bladder stones. We had them immediately removed via surgery, and it went very well. The dog seems to be acting much better than before, although VERY sleepy during the day. We figure this is due to the anti-biotics, pain-killers, as well as the anesthetics used during surgery. However, it has now been several days and it is extremely difficult to get out dog to eat the recommended Hill’s C/D hard food (good for dogs with bladder stones/infections). We were told to only feed our dog this type of food, however, it was eating so little, that we had to give it a little canned food. After some reading, we found out that it is normal for dogs to refuse hard food for a few days following surgery. Should we give it the canned food, and gradually combine it with the Hill’s C/D? Anyone else had problems or experiences like this?
Dog Food Recall

Dogowner Melba Quackenbush fed her Italian Greyhound, Trixie, a dog food called Canine Cannabis. Trixie was never the same again. Join Esperanza Garcia, anchor for News Channel 11, as she shows the sad after effects of the recalled dog food and how it shattered the live of Melba and her animal. (Actually this is my final project for Adobe After Effects class Spring 2010 Paradise Valley Community College, Instructor Dr. Eric Miller)
