I am thinking about getting this one year old white german shepherd from the human society. She had been lost and no one had claimed her so they put her up for adoption. she seems a bit skinny but one of the vet techs told me thats becasue probably she hadn’t eatin in a while when she had been lost wondering around. When i met her one on one she was very jumpy and hyper one of the ladies said thats because they don’t give it much excercise. She was very friendly and when i had a treat in my hand i told her to sit and she did. also she licked me my hands and face alot. she seemed to be trained dog. I have never owned a dog but i really want one. I have a baby sister (one year old) will the WGS be good around her and the rest of my family. I probably will keep this dog in my garage or in the back yard for a while before letting it in the house. i used to be scared of dogs but when i met this WGS i like connected to it i wasn’t scared of it at all. is this one year old WGS okay to have.tx

My apartment allows dogs, but has breed restrictions for Pit bulls, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, Doberman Pinschers and German Shepherds.

I’ve never known German Shepherds to show any violence, except for some results when you search “German Shepherd attacks” and even then, it’s usually pets attacking their owners. My friend’s Doberman/Shepherd mix is a docile, mostly frightened sort of dog, but when her little Westie terrier started barking at lady passing by, the Doberman went up and bit her.

Is there really a predisposition toward attacking bred into these dogs, or is neglect from the owner to blame?

I am looking for a nice active family dog. I have done my research and found that these two fit the most. The only problem is that my family also has a cat so dogs like bulldogs are out of question. When you answer can you try to just state a little information about why I should get the dog you choose.
Thanks,
John

We are currently feeding Diamond Naturals for Large Breed Puppy. But I have been told bad things about it. So I’m in a pickle. I need suggestions preferably from GSD owners and breeders. But anyone can help me out. I feed only Hollistic/ all natural. THANKS!

I have a one year old German Shepherd female, I bought to train for schutzhund, she somehow cracked her tooth around 6 months of age, it runs completely down the side of the k9. I don’t have the money to fix it right now, it could take me a good 6 months to get it… does anyone know how long it would take for the tooth to decay and fall out? Also, if it does, can I have a tooth implanted and her still be accepted for being titled? I realize an implant will be awfully expensive, but I am too stubborn to give up on such a good dog.
