I know that dogs seem to heal faster than people, but I still feel like I should be giving her something for pain. I asked at the vet’s office and they told me she wouldn’t need anything for pain. Why is that? I know when a woman has a hysterectomy it is a very painful experience, so wouldn’t it be about the same for a dog?

I am thinking about getting a Maltese? What should I know about these dogs? Like behavior and health, etc. I have looked at breed info sites but I think people who have had them are much more help.

I’ve heard so much on the news and in reports lately about dog foods. We want to give him a good healthy meal that doesn’t contain a lot of unhealthy fillers and such. What is a good, recommended food for puppies.

I’ve heard that puppy foods that have a meat (chicken meal, beef meal, lamb meal, etc) as the first ingredient is a good idea. But I noticed that many puppy foods first ingredient is corn meal.

With so much misleading information from the dog food makers, I’m not sure what is the best type of food for the dog.

FYI…he’ll be about 7 or 8 weeks old. 1/2 Yorkie, 1/2 German Spitz.
.

NOTE: I do not want to just feed him anything. I need specific answers here, not just “feed him puppy chow”. I’m talking about foods with wholesome ingredients that have been studied and evaluated.

How much food should I give my puppies?

Posted by: admin | Comments (5)

All of them are around 5 weeks old, and I’m thinking about starting them on puppy food. My puppies are Golden/Lab mix. I need to kno how much food I need to feed them each meal and how many times a day to feed.

Hi,

We are getting a purebred English Mastiff Puppy this weekend as he’ll be over 8 weeks old and ready to go…

I’ve read and heard mixed opinions on puppy food and Giant Breeds such as the English Mastiff… some say feed them up to 6 months, some say a year, some say not at all… my breeder says that he does it on a dog by dog basis, he believes in puppy food as needed, and if he’s growing really fast, maybe change to adult food, but if his growth rate remains fairly slow, keep on puppy food for 6-12 months depending on the growth rate… He does believe that there are some nutrients in most puppy food that are essential to proper development…

My question is, should we start him on puppy food, and sloooooowly add adult food over the course of several months? We have an adult dog, so we will have both foods on hand… Would this make sense?

As well, if anyone wants to chime in on “Grain vs Grain Free, or Low Grain” I would love to hear the feedback…

Thank-you for your input!

My cocker spaniel is now 15 m/o. We’ve got our basic training done and now we’re concentrating on field training. To me he’s an adult dog now.

I came across my breeder today and she told me, and I quote exactly: He’s a big boy but he still acts very much like a puppy.

She didn’t say if it’s a good or bad thing. I was in a hurry and could not get into it at the moment.

So is it common for dogs to still act like puppies at that age?
Thanks!

My dog is having problems.. He won’t use the restroom, eat, limping on one leg and I taken him to the doctor.. He said I had to put him down.. Should I keep him in the condition and hope he gets better or should I just take my dog out of its misery? I mean this dog was one of my best friends.. We been together for 5 years.. I would always tell everything to my dog… Please help..

I have a 5 month old small puppy. We just moved and while we were packing he looked fine and acted fine. We packed and drove 12 hours straight. He sat on the passenger’s lap and slept here and there, but was not wild in the car. At about 11 hours and 50 minutes, he started whining and then threw up a little bit. We got to our destination and he met two other dogs and acted VERY normal and excited to see them. But from there on out, he has had multiple spells of diarreah. He has also thrown up once in his crate over night. It is now morning, and he has very loose stools, but still plays and acts excited.

I am very concerned! What are some things that I can do to help him. I know the vet is a serious option, but we do not have one here. Is he just nervous? What can I give him?
