Archive for Should

Whenever my dog is out on a walk she always seems to go for other dogs, it starts off okay and then she suddenly goes for them after sniffing for a bit. She is a lovely dog and loves other people but is just a bit weird about other dogs…
Some infomation about my dog….
She is a collie cross German Shepard.
She is 4.
She is a rescue dog but did live with a family before but they had to give her up because they were too busy.
She hasn’t been neutered yet.
I would really appreciate some help from all you doggy experts out there!!

How Much Should I Charge For Pet Sitting?

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

The woman I am pet sitting for has 3 dogs and 1 cat. The cat is diabetic and needs an insulin shot every 12 hours (between 5 and 6, AM and PM). Additionally, the other animals all take medicines for various reasons (arthritis and whatnot) at each meal.
They live in the desert up against a mountain, and have the threat of mountain lions and coyotes to the littler dogs. So, I must accompany them outdoors always for all potty breaks.
They’re snake trained, and I might have to call a gila monster removal guy, should the need arise.
It’s a bunch more than I am used to, so I am unsure what a fair price would be.
Help. :)
(It’s three days… Staying 2 nights… 4 insulin shots… 4 feedings and an unlimited amount of outdoor trips depending on the dogs habits)

Okay so I have a service dog now and have been doing online school for the last 2 years and I love the school so much. But then their is a part of me that wants to go to public schools but I have a few fears in going back. Can the school deny me for having a service dog? Also I will have to go to 5 different class rooms and I would want to have a small water bowl set up by my desk when I go in the class room if its really hot out side would I be allowed to do that? Also I’m afraid that someone in one of the 5 classes are going to have a reaction to the dog like start to sneeze or have watery eyes and I don’t want there education to be lowed cause of my service dog i also relize people have fear of dogs and it might detract them from learning too. My psychologist thinks it would be “good for me” to go to public schools but I’m not sure how good it would be for the dog and other students attending the school. What do you think I should do.

This is gonna be long… My boyfriend and I recently learned of a friend in need. Long story short, our friend was living in West Philly with her 4 children, 2 Pit Bulls, and 2 Kitties when the neighborhood took a sudden turn for the worse. There was repeated violence surrounding the home, and she was left with no choice but to move her entire family to a motel, and then on to her brother’s house where it is very crowded. In addition to it being too crowded for her pets, her brother’s son has asthma triggered by pet dander- I think you see where I’m going, so I’ll skip to the part where she sent her pets to a few close friends for fostering. Well, she has one left who will surely have to go to a shelter, if noone takes her in. My boyfriend and I agreed to possibly foster her 1 year old intact female Pit Bull, Princess. Because she has been in need for some time, this dog would need a full check up, spay surgery, and possibly shots. We already have two dogs, and cannot afford vet care for a third without help. I found some very affordable vet clinics, and we finally agreed to come see her, and have a follow up visit to see if she gets on with my dogs. What else should I be doing? What should I ask my friend about the dog? We’re obviously getting her her own crate, toys, bowls, etc. but, what else should we be doing? This is my first time doing something like this, and I need all the help I can get! I just want to do right by the dog AND her owner, and really do my research before getting into this.

What 3rd Dog Do You Think I Should Get?

Posted by: admin | Comments (3)

Before anyone starts going on about SHELTERS this will be the 1st place I will look.
I have 3 young children a Chi and a Dobe. I would like to expand the pack. I wanted a German Shepherd type dog, but didn’t want loads of moulting. A Collie far to demanding. I love English Bull Terriers, but are stubborn to train. I would like another Dobe, but I would rather rescue one and the rescues WON’T risk one coming to a home with 3 small children and obviously I don’t want to put my kids in any sort of danger. There are plenty of Staffs, but i’m a bit worried about their past! Any suggestions anyone pls!

My new roommate refuses to clean up after himself and has now started smoking cigarettes indoors. He has been asked to not smoke inside because of the smell and, more importantly, I have asthma. He will not clean up his own dishes or even put away his things. My dogs have started shredding what ever he leaves on the floor. He knows that whatever touches the floor is in their territory and is subject to destruction. What should I do? The extra bedroom in my house has become his trash pit.

hello guys…
I am 21 years old guy and i have been experiencing this annoying phenomena since childhood. I always sneeze whenever i play or even get close(especially the horses) toward them. they have some kind of smell that makes my nose itch from inside and repeatedly want to sneeze (like 2,3 at a time) some times my eyes itches too. I really like pets and want to adopt a cat but i can’t because of my allergy.
I take medication but it is only to calm down the sneezing not to cure the allergy.
Any advice would be helpful.
thank U:)

My puppy is 5 months old now- he’s a GSD, husky, and other types of dogs mixed into a cute bundle. We got him from the local rescue. We have had him for over 3 months now. He is happy and he gets a ton of attention, we take him for two walks, he’s fully housetrained, and he knows commands pretty good- we have him in puppy school.
There is one probably though. He is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lonely. I’m with him all day, and my boyfriend is with us after he’s done work- so he gets a ton of human attention. We have cats, but they don’t want to play with him. He whines when he sees them because he wants to play with him, but because he is so big, he just scares them.
He loves other dogs so much. In puppy school, he has decided who his BFF’s are in the class and the three of them are a total entourage. It’s so cute. He wants to play with the neighbours dog all the time, but she’s an aggressive Brittney who gets crated all day :( so when she is out and if she comes over, she bites my puppy and tries to pick a fight with him.
So anyway, I would love to have another dog, not just as a companion for our puppy, but as an addition to our house. I’m home for the next year [while I'm finishing up university] so I feel like this would be a good time to bring another dog into the house.
We were thinking a smaller dog, like a beagle or something or a medium size dog- one that gets along well with cats and other dogs.
Thoughts?

So my friend has two macaws in two separate cages: Cuddles and Rainbow. Rainbow is red and cuddles is a blue and gold macaw and they are both in cages that was small enough that it only has one perch and water and food dishes in the bottom. They don’t really get to move around lot but they cry out for attention all the time. She also has 10 c**katiels in the same cage which has become completely unsanitary and some of them had babies which died in the conditions of the cage. She also has two doves cramped up on top of the c**katiel cage in a small cage where its hard for them to move from one single position and they get so bored they are nearly bare from plucking all of their feathers.
See my friend also has over twenty cats she refuses to give away and 15 of those cats life with her (she is 16 and lives by herself in a house her dad pays off just for her) and she just bought a dog. Her excuse for not paying attention to her birds is that they are at her mom’s house so she doesn’t have time for them but those birds are so desperate for attention. I got to hold one once (I have handled birds before, yes I know the dangers of macaws. My family has been owning birds for years) and it just seemed so distant and unused to human touch. worried. but it warmed up to me for a little while. I just don’t think birds that beautiful should be treated like that. Should I call a rescue center?

Lately, I have noticed that my 3 year old golden retriever has a small dry cough at most just once a day. It lasts for like 5 seconds and usually when she is sleeping. It really only is like one time a day that I hear this. It doesn’t sound alarming, but I want to make sure.
It kind of sounds like a reverse sneeze that my beagle has, but it seems more dry and not nearly as loud or uncomfortable for her. Also, I don’t believe golden retrievers can have reverse sneezes. It is still different than a reverse sneeze, so I don’t think this is what it is.
Here is a small history on her that I think could possibly be related: Like 5 weeks ago my golden retriever went for an anesthetic dental and during the surgery she vomitted. (we took away the food and water). The vet told me that she had a risk of aspiration pneumonia.
Could the damage from vomitting under anesthesia cause this? Should I be worried. Only reason why I have not contacted my vet is because it is VERY rarely and when she coughs it lasts for 5 seconds and you won’t hear her do it for another day or so.
