I have 2 chow/labs– brothers that are 11 months. One is gold, Billy, and the other is white, Charmin. Around May, I began to notice some pinkish color slightly around Charmin’s eyes. Then, this afternoon, I started a small fire in the backyard which the dogs quickly investigated. When Charmin came in, we were cuddling when my husband noticed his left eye is pink and the skin around it is pink. He has some (not a lot) greenish discharge and he is tearing a bit. I’m positive that it is conjunctivitis, probably related to allergies, since he has had the slight pink around his eyelid this spring and summer.

I am curious, because many websites recommend simply using a mild saline eye drop or a lubricant to help clean tears. Anyone else experienced this before and had success with an OTC product? I know that if it continues, I will bring him to the vet, but must be cost conscious first.

A friend said white animals are more prone to conjunctivitis. True or false?
I forgot to mention that he is not exhibiting any signs of pain. He is eating, drinking, and playing normally. He doesn’t seem to notice except that it appears itchy– because he keeps rubbing it.

….well whatever it is, tell me…please help! he is weak and thin , i cannot afford him to go to the vet,….but what antibiotic or first aid procedure would you recommend?…;-(
everyone is telling me here to go to the vet, but i was wondering?,….DO WE HAVE INTERNET USING VETERINARIANS AROUND HERE?…
i just noticed it just yesterday,

and by the way….the collar is not affecting him, neither his diet (which is leftovers), it most be the effects of global warming…(ahem, sudden weather changes, can really make you ill)
anyway….i will try my best, to check him on vet…its just that….im searching for alternatives or suggestions..

I am considering buying a rottweiler for my family. All sources I’ve referenced for dog training strongly recommend creating a pack environment for the dog in which you are the leader; however, I need everyone in the household (5 people) to control the dog. Should everyone be involved in training it?

I have heard this twice thsi week and never heard this before, people say that you should squize out the brown puss that is in your dogs butt, Is there any truth to this and if so is it really that important to do and what does it do for the dog ?

Everytime I got to bed with a french braid and wake up with it wavy, I usually spray it with hairspray on the roots and everywhere else. But 3 hours later, it always returns to its’ straight state. Is there anything i can use to prolong the waviness and keep my hair looking soft, not hard?

I recently (last Wednesday) adopted a puppy from the humane society. She was a little sick when we brought her home but was still active. Early Monday morning, 4 days later, she became very ill and lethargic. We took her to the animal hospital and she tested positive for parvo, for which she is currently being treated. I am curious to know if there are any laws concerning this in GA because we told the human society to warn them about the other dogs that were there at the time and they seemed uninterested. Also, if there is some law about this, can we make them pay for the hospital bill? Thanks!!
I was just visiting my Daisy in the hospital and I noticed the puppy beside her (mostly because she was bouncing up and down and barking at me). I saw her name didn’t include a last name like all the others, and then I looked closer. It had the initials of the humane society where we adopted her, and shes been there for 5 days and my puppy only since Monday. Hmmm… makes me think they knew about it before we told them. I am going to see if they have an epidemic too.

As much as it breaks my heart to separate from my dog, I must, for reasons too long to get into here. I would still see him twice a year. I posted before but now it seems things will be different. I will be giving my dog to my sister who knows him well. She loves him and he loves her. Still, I have concerns. My dog is 10 years old and blind. My sister lives in a small apartment with two cats. What’s the best way to make sure everyone will be happy?

I am looking for some dog treats for my Chihuahua/SH. So what are some good treats great for training and doesn’t have by-products or any fillers or preservations?
