Sometimes the best food, isn’t what your dog will eat. Try several different small bags of food for overall health and performance. See which one your dog will enjoy and then stick with that brand.
I’ve experimented with a lot of foods for my dog. She has skin allergies, a very sensitive stomach, and is active in flyball. The best food for the money that I have come across is Natural Balance. Which ever food you choose make sure it has no animal by-products. Many large food companies do use by-products (i.e. Iams, Science Diet, Purina) but I have found that Natural Balance is the best food. About a week after I switched her onto it her coat was much shiner and thicker, her allergies were much better, and she hardly vomits anymore. Other good foods are Wysong, Solid Gold, and Eagle Pack.
Well, you really shouldn’t buy the store brand dog food, I had a dog years ago and he had mange, took him to the vet and started using Iams brand, the vet said that the cheap food is just alot of filler and not much on overall substance. Be sure to take your dog to the vet and keep up on the shots. They need someone to look out for their health.
seriously what country are you in?? not all foods are available world wide… NOT any from a grocery store or Wal Mart NOT science Diet, not Purina, and not Iams (note to the last poster – it has filler too.. your vet is thinking of the old formula before it sold out to Proctor & Gamble.. now its CRAP)
in Canada – NUTRAM (best food in the world but not available in USA however because they export to Europe they pass the toughest standards of ANY North American food) or ACANA in USA – Wellness, Canadae, Innova
I feed my dogs right now Nutro Natural. What works for one dog doesn’t mean it will work for other dogs.I guess read the labels and stay away from things such as corn , by products , lots of grains. The first ingredients should be protien , such as chicken or turkey , lamb , beef. I learned a lot over the years about foods .The foods in grocery stores are crap.
The best food you can feed your dog is a food that is high quality and doesn’t contain corn, wheat, soy, beet pulp, artificial dyes, colors, preservatives or by products. The food will have meat listed as at least the first two ingredients.
Personally, I like Science Diet. We tried Iams, Eukanuba, Purina and even off-brand dog food. Science Diet was easy on our dogs digestion and their “waste” didn’t smell as bad. One of the major things I noticed when we tried Science Diet was that they became more regular when they needed to go outside. Good luck!
Whatever you do don’t feed your dog any supermarket food or food from Wal-mart etc. it is nothing but junk food. Go to your local petshop and most of the time they will have samples of all sorts of good foods. Take some samples home and check and see which ones your dog likes. I feed my dogs Innova EVO and they love it.
Some very good brands are: Natural Balance Innova Canidae Wellness Fromm Solid Gold California Natural Timberwolf
i feed my girls nutro ultra, read the lable, if it has corn as the first thing put it back!

Canidae, Solid Gold, Wellness, & Nutro are great foods to feed your dog!
Don’t get any of that junk like Purina or Science Diet that is advertised on tv.
