Which do you think would be a cuter idea for a nursery theme?
ByWe’re still TTC, but I like to plan ahead (and my MIL will be sewing a lot of stuff for the room) lol I’ve narrowed it down to two diferent themes –
Black lab puppies (we have two black labs of course)
Disney characters (I love Disney!)
Which do you think would be cuter? Just curious

I love the idea of black lab puppies – this interests me as a nursery theme, purely because I haven’t seen it done before – its very unique! Disney is a great bet too if you want to avoid just sticking to pink, blue or yellows – there is a lot of merchandise out there for kitting out your nursery already if you were to go with this theme.
I say – break the mold! Go for the lab puppies! It would be a great unisex idea :]

disney would be easy as there would be a lot of stuff you could buy like curtains etc ready made but the puppies idea is more original and relevant to your family. it might be a lot more time consuming and costly though. either one sounds good though.

Disney might be ‘too commercial’, but they are bright & safe characters. I think the black lab theme might be a little boring.

I would go with Black Labs too… it is not as common and since your MIL likes to sew it willbe mor sentimental. Also it is great for a young child as well not just a baby. And labs are great in their own so why not be unique?

Disney characters will be easier to find, although its nice to have something that means a lot to you like the labs.
We chose Baby Snoopy for our theme, and my STARS that stuff was hard to find. We got the wallpaper and the crib set easily, but anything else we had to search really hard for.
If you go with the labs, you will likely find maybe one or two things Lab-related, and then you will just have to color match to them, you know what I mean? But with Disney stuff you can have a whole bunch of it with the characters on it.
Good luck with it!

This might be criticized because I’m not a mom.. but how about something less themey so it ‘ll be easier to convert when the baby gets older? Like just a blue or green theme with one or two Disney things?

I don’t have a baby myself, but I think a cute baby theme would be Disney characters.

I’d go for the black labs…I like different nursery themes! We did western in my son’s room. We didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl, so we painted the room the color of the carseat (because we liked the color combo!) The colors we used were teal and chocolate. If it was a boy we were going more western, and girl would have been western, but we would add carosaul (sp…lol) horses to make it a little girlier!

Are you going to find out the sex of the baby? If you do and it is a girl you may want a more “girly” theme. I didn’t think it would matter, as I had boy/girl twins so the room was a neutral green but as my daughter got older, about 1 1 1/2 I couldn’t WAIT to get her into her own room!!!!
I would go for the puppies…. we are a TOTAL Disney family here, vacation there every year. My daughter wanted princesses for her room (she’s 3) but I didn’t want her to get sick of them, or me too! So we did a princess theme but not disney!
Good Luck!

Disney is so overdone. Black lab puppies would be cute, and so much more original.

The black Labs idea is cute, but how would you implement it? It seems like it may be a little difficult to make it aesthetically soft enough to be a nursery. However with the Disney theme it is extremely commercial and would not look like a custom room.

go with the labs!! i love that idea, we have a chocolate lab and just think that would be too cute!!!

i have never heard of a balck lab puppies them for a nursery.
Disney is cute but people always use Disney.
November 12th, 2009 at 6:25 am
i think disney. its more for a baby. black labs would be more for when he/she gets older.
November 12th, 2009 at 7:15 am
i say disney but black labs or cute to why don’t you do both do disney now and the black labs when he or she gets 1 or 2 and keep in mind the color of room matters research says blue walls in a baby room calms the baby more, red soothes and yellow makes the baby cry more not sure if it’s true but it is interesting.

Black lab puppies. Disney is the typical baby theme it gets very boring in time.
